Embracing the Adventure: Celebrating 24 Years of Marriage, Family, and Law Career Growth
Show Notes Transcript

This week, I celebrated 24 incredible years of marriage with my incredible wife, Stephanie, and I couldn't help but reflect on our journey together - raising our beautiful children, pursuing our passions, and expanding our law firm. In this episode, I share some of those cherished memories, as well as the importance of fostering individuality in our children, embracing the adventure of marriage, and learning from the lessons life throws our way.

As our firm continues to grow, with offices in Shelby, Charlotte, and Hendersonville, I'm incredibly proud to have one of my sons working alongside me in his own pursuit of a law career. Listen in as I discuss the value of planning, striving for excellence, and finding balance in our hectic lives. I also share my secret for de-stressing through exercise. So, join me for this heartwarming and inspiring episode, and remember that nobody's life or decisions are perfect, but we can always do our best to manage our situations and make the most of them.

Speaker 1: Hey, it's Greg McIntyre at McIntyre Older Law. I'm wearing my McIntyre Elder Law gym shirt. Just got finished with a good workout with Brenton, my law partner at the gym, and wanted to come to you, spent a week, spent a great week And I had my 24th wedding anniversary this week. And, looking back over my life, over my life with Stephanie, and it's been an adventure and a journey, my life with the firm points like that in your life, you know, there's anniversaries. They really make you reminisce and reflect. And we have our two boys that are oldest of our six And one of them is a freshman in college, ran track and cross country this year. We're extremely proud of him and what he's working on and doing in his life. Our four younger girls are all doing well in school And just in their lives. We're proud of each one of them in their individuality. You would try to foster that and feed that And they're dancing. And Savannah's like the best architect slash home decorator. Her room is certainly the best in our house And she changes it every six months like revamps it. So extremely talented at that And she is probably one of our smartest, no doubt. But also her own person, to say the least and love her.

Speaker 1: Our oldest, Jordan, is working in our firm And he just graduated. Well, i'm sorry. He just finished his second year of law school And he is working in Shelby in our Shelby office because over the Christmas break he was driving to Charlotte. I think that wore him out a little bit. He's got a girlfriend there in the area And I want him to have a good, relaxing summer. But he also wanted to get the work And I think he's helping out so much in the Shelby office with Brenton and pleading and drafting and enjoying sitting in on consults and going to court and what his career is going to be like. That feels amazing too.

Speaker 1: I'm very proud of what we've grown with our Shelby, charlotte and Hendersonville office And with my son working in our practice one of my sons and don't want to ever push my kids to be attorneys or do what I do or what Steph does. We are extremely proud of our children and want them to be their own individual selves and do what they want to do. And in the end you want to have a passion for what you do That is true and you want to have a work ethic So you can hang in there when the job is a job because you know It is and it always is, so you know you want to get in and learn to love the work too in the grind. So 24 years of marriage has been amazing and an adventure and growing a family and growing a firm And our firm is like a family and I love everybody in our firm. Sometimes I do amazing things, sometimes I do things that I question and you know, as far as a manager, as a father or as a husband and you know, for the females out there, i'm sure you can relate. You question some of the decisions you've made and in the end I think we just have to go with the best decision we can at the time And for yourself and, you know, for your children and your family, and for your firm or your company or your job and move forward.

Speaker 1: And this has been a really good week of reflection. Got some good workouts in this week. I hope everybody out there is doing well And you know, if you would like help with your estate planning, caring for your family and building a legacy, i'm here to help and our firms that are here to help. Nobody's life is perfect, nobody's business is perfect, nobody's decisions are perfect, but what you can do is always try to plan and always try to do your best and manage your life and de-stress which is something I do Manage those as workouts. Had a great workout with Brenton today in the gym. That's why I'm dressed this way, so I look forward to this week. I hope everybody has a good week out there.
